The top-down experience is one that should be experienced by every car-lover at least once in their life. What do you think is the best cheap used convertible out there?

If it were my money, I'd probably just go for

a first-generation Mazda MX-5 Miata

. I know it's cliché, but for the money, there's really nothing that can match it. Spending $5000 will get you an absolutely mint example with reasonable mileage, and you get one of the best driving experiences at any price. The convertible top is just a bonus.
